Research organisations are increasingly the target of cyber-attacks that can result in months of downtime. A major problem is the decentralised IT administration without uniform security management.

ATHENE is analysing the security situation at German research institutions and developing protection concepts that include modern security architectures and practical training for IT teams in order to strengthen cybersecurity in research institutions - and other sectors - in the long term.

Studies on Cyber­security in Germany

ATHENE has examined the IT infrastructures of various sectors - from universities, research organisations and political parties to administrations, critical infrastructure facilities and large enterprises. The results of our studies are made available in a timely manner.

Cyber Range - Offer for Research Institutions

ATHENE offers research institutions in Hesse a special, time-limited training programme on the ATHENE Cyber Range, where up to two IT staff per institution can learn to detect and defend against cyber attacks more quickly in a one-day practical training course.
